Folklore Futures was a demonstration project established in partnership between Folklore Hoxton and Lemon Leopard Charity. It flourished between 2019 and 2024.
Folklore Futures embodied a vibrant and dynamic community of philosophers, artists, activists, storytellers, and seekers, all dedicated to fostering meaningful connections and addressing individual, community, and systemic disconnection.
Committed to weaving a rich tapestry of interconnectedness and understanding across diverse cultures and communities, they stood steadfast in their mission. Through immersive living, collaborative working, and vibrant cultural exchanges, they passionately cultivated a world infused with compassion. This dedication ensured a lasting legacy of harmony and resilience, paving the way for what would become a permanent Intentional community.
The inherent connectedness which human societies and cultures developed within their structures and identities and which also encompassed their relationship with the natural realm and even the cosmos, have been systematically eroded by various drivers from science and politics to technology and individualistic worldviews. This disconnect is symptomatic of a broader meta and meaning crisis, where societal fragmentation, environmental degradation, and political polarisation threaten the fabric of our collective existence.
Folklore Futures harnessed the transformative power of storytelling, art, and cultural exchange to bridge divides and inspire positive change. This approach was the foundation of the 3C demonstrator project, underpinning all our efforts to foster connection and understanding within and beyond our community.
Folklore Futures embraced the philosophy of Cosmopraxis, guiding our approach to addressing societal disconnect through our demonstrator project. Through Cosmopraxis, we strove to cultivate the imaginative and emotional capacity needed to shape a more connected, compassionate, and sustainable world, embodying these principles in every aspect of our work.
